Sinapius 2023 Esmè

Estate Grown Gamay sourced from dry grown, high density planted vineyard, planted in 2013 between 7,700 – 11,111 vines per hectare. Gently handpicked to ensure all bunches remain intact, the grapes underwent traditional whole cluster carbonic maceration for 2 weeks, without any addition of sulfur. After pressing, the wine is matured in a 1500 litre foudré and old barriques for 7 months, and bottled without fining and filtration in December 2023.

The wine opens with an intensely perfumed nose, showing wild strawberry and redcurrants with hints of violet and wild fennel. Medium bodied, a savoury palate from the whole-bunch stem elements, juicy red fruits, with fine/chalky tannins. This wine has great length and persistence, with a wonderful fine spice and lively acidity to finish. Enjoy at room temperature or chilled.

95 Points (GOLD)

A beautiful, diaphanous expression of gamay with an airy, spacious palate presence and fruit tones of gentle, complex redcurrant, red plum, red apple and ruby red grapefruits. Gentle meadow herbs and wildflowers, a subtly exotic lean with some amaro notes peeking through and a crushed volcanic rocky vibe. Minerally and laser-like precision, too, with a swift cadence and sapid end point.
