2016 La Clairiére Pinot Noir x1

100% estate grown from our second planted high density (7700 vines/ha) Pinot Noir block. Planted to 7 different clones including Abel, D4V2, UCD5, 667, Cortalloid, 115, 777).
The soils for this block differ from the other Pinot Noir blocks, with it’s duplex soil and ironstone gravels over micaceous siltstone clay, with plenty of quartz.

We planted this block in 2010/11 after clearing the land, hence the name “La Clairiére” which means “the clearing” in French. Low yields (<0.5kg per vine – 30hl/ha), Handpicked at 12.5 Baumè, hand sorted in the vineyard and again in the winery. 100% whole berry wild yeast fermentation including 3-5 day ambient soak, 7 day primary ferment and 10-12 days post ferment maceration. Settled in tank for 24 hours prior to maturation in French Oak barriques and hogsheads (40% new) for 15 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered in October 2017.


2016 The Enclave Pinot Noir x 1

The second release of this 100% Estate Grown exclusively from one of our high density Pinot Noir block, The Enclave. The wine gets its name from the meaning – Enclave: a unique place enclosed within another territory. This particular vineyard block is positioned in the prized North-East facing mid-slope of our property, at a high-density of 7700-10250 vines. 12 different clones of Pinot Noir including 114, 115, 667, 777, Abel, D4V2, G5V15, MV6, 386, 521. The soils in this block are known as Red Ferrosols, derived from volcanic basalt deposits that are over 10 million years old. Low yields (<0.5kg per vine – 30hl/ha). Handpicked at 12.5 Baumè, hand sorted in the vineyard and again in the winery. 80% whole bunch, 20% whole berry wild yeast fermentation including 3-5 day ambient soak, 7 day primary ferment and 10-12 days post ferment maceration. Settled in tank for 24 hours prior to maturation in French Oak barriques and hogsheads (40% new) for 15 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered in October 2017.
